  1. Emmylou

From the recording emmylou

There's a train that goes through our little town here in middle TN. It always triggers thoughts of back home...my old house near the railroad tracks and the freight train that crossed over the creek trestle every night. "Emmylou" brings back those glory days, old dreams, old friends, young love and hometowns. Sparse production with Dave's moody, haunting electric guitar work. We kept the rough (scratch) vocal since I didn't think I could do it any better which is usually the case.

Lyrics

Sometimes I'd like to run out in the rain
Feel like I’m seventeen again
Drive that GTO like a hurricane
Sometimes I’d like to run out in the rain

Some days I’d like to sail out to the sea
Feel the spray against my face and just be free
Let that northern wind come carry me
Some days I’d like to sail out to the sea

Sometimes I’d like to catch that old freight train
Around the world and back in 80 days
See if some old friend might just be game
Sometimes I’d like to catch that old freight train

SOLO

Some nights I’d like to call up Emmylou
Just to say hello and see what she’s up to
Maybe she’s been thinking about us too
Some nights I’d like to call up Emmylou

Sometimes I’d like to catch that old freight train
Around the world and back in 80 days
See if some old friend might just be game
Sometimes I’d like to catch that old freight train
